In this solo I explore the act of performing, of preparing and “serving” the body to the audience. This was a site specific work made in response to being given a kitchen as my performance space through New Dialect’s “Third Voice” collaborations with local Nashville musicians. I worked to demonstrate the difficulty and rigor a performer can go through, often with a disagreeing body, to present a nice, digestible thing. With the metaphor of preparing food and presenting a meal, collaborators Matt Kinney and Kay Kennedy worked with me to create a chaotic scene of a found kitchen sound score, a shadow projection work of a melting dining room and urgent preparations of my physical form throughout the kitchen.
