Small Town

“Small Town” is an exploration of physical character development through the lens of acting improv. Through improv games I worked with performers, Cutis Thomas, Rebecca Steinberg and Mary Ruth Isbell Long to develop shadow characters of themselves in response to a ‘‘tragic accident” they all come upon as residents of a small town. The nature of these generative improv games allowed for the performers to develop from a place of quick or subconscious response. These characters existed, related, and physically monologued in a shadow world created by artist, Kay Kennedy, with a flood light and a miniature home, and was sonically supported by musician, Matt Kinney.
